We are looking forward to the upcoming 2019 season with great enthusiasm! And although we have much to anticipate, we have already had an eventful start to the year. We could not be happier that so many of you have been able to enjoy the club and each other's company
throughout the winter months. Indeed, the season feels as though it is already well under way!
In February, the first annual SHYC Chili Cook Off was a fun-filled and tasty afternoon. With the Daytona 500 set as the backdrop, 15 delicious chilies vied for top marks from the palates of 120 members and their guests. The competition was tight but Nick Lent emerged victorious as
this year's Chili Champ. Thanks to Katie and Pat Milmoe for creating and hosting this terrific event.
In March, the traditional St. Patrick's Day Party was once again reborn! 170 revelers were entertained with Irish step dancers, the energetic sounds of the Aldous Collins Band, and pub fare and drinks. Thanks to Kelly & Nolan Kelly and Amy & David Mahery for organizing such a
And in April, the club hosted an Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt. Families and friends enjoyed a relaxing few hours together replete with a Bloody Mary Bar, fabulous buffet choices, 450 hidden eggs, and a guest appearance by none other than the Easter Bunny himself. Special
thanks to Amy & Adam Pischel for putting this together.
Behind the scenes of every event has of course been the constant support and expert guidance of our Club Manager, Maureen Ray, whose assistance has been invaluable. And Ellen Mackenzie and her catering staff have truly outdone themselves with their delicious food
and seamless service. We sincerely thank them both!
As we look ahead to kicking off the summer, the Commodore's Opening Dance will be held Sunday, May 26. Chaired by Andrea & Mark Spinale and Alison & Mark Carrasquillo, this year's dance will once again feature the popular sounds of The Smoking Jackets band. We hope
everyone is able to attend what is sure to be an incredible evening.
To celebrate Memorial Day, the Bloody Mary Party will be held Monday, May 27. Thanks to Ann & Jack Szymanski and Jill & Fred Caffrey for once again graciously hosting this ever popular event.
Mystery Cruise Night - a new event chaired by Kathy & David Donahue, Margie & Larry Moore, Susan & Ken North, and Janie & Andy Culbert - will be held Saturday, June 8. Please join them as they welcome you aboard SS Ocean Dream!
The yearly Luminaria Party will be held on Friday, August 2. Thanks to Tyla & Sean Quirk and Emily & David Anderson for hosting this wonderful family event filled with food, games, contests, and music as we celebrate a beautiful Scituate tradition.
And the Labor Day Deck Party will once again cap off our summer season on Saturday, August 31. If last year's party is any indication, we are in for another grand finale!
Lastly, we would like to extend a special welcome to new members - we are excited for you to enjoy all of our events this summer! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions about House events.
On behalf of Commodore Steve Guard and Kathi Guard, as well as members of the House Committee, we hope you all have a wonderful season.
